SUCCESS STORIES FROM THE SDF - EHi SKILLS TRAINING


Several success stories were registered from the trainees, these included;

Kakolwa Brian

Brian is a recent graduate who has been jobless for some time since his graduation and in his own words, he says liFe has not been easy. Being enrolled for training in shoe making, Brian says he has learnt and mastered the skill of shoe making especially craft shoes through the training by EHi funded by SDF/PSFU.

From the skills learnt, Brian acknowledges that;

“…there are a lot of skills that I have learnt that can enable me make money out there which was not possible before joining the training. Even in the midst of the training, I have been able to earn some money because some people gave me orders to make shoes for them.”

After the training, Brian intends to open up bigger shoe making companies, start bigger projects for shoe making that will help youth in the community who are like him to make some money. He also hopes to transfer the knowledge and skills among fellow youths.

Ajambo Sylvia

Sylvia is a resident in Mpumudde, Kimaka. She trained in the production of Eco-friendly Cooking Bag, a bag that is used for cooking and helps save the amount of charcoal used when cooking since food is heated for a short while and transferred to the cooking bag. She has a canteen at Kiira Road but when she heard about the training, she picked interest in the training with hope that the skill will enable her supplement on her income. In her words, Sylvia says that;


“…I came to learn the skill because I believe it will help me by adding on my income. I intend to start producing the cooking bags because I want it become my business because when I start production, I will be able to earn money to help me pay school fees for my children.”
